Granblue Fantasy: Relink Demo Arrives on Switch 2

The gateway to one of Cygames' best action adventures is now open. The developer has released a free demo of Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok on Nintendo Switch 2, letting console owners try out the action RPG before investing in the full version of the expansion.

The demo is also available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Steam, with crossplay matchmaking support across all platforms. It is a notable addition for the Switch 2, which receives the game for the first time alongside the launch of Endless Ragnarok.

What the demo includes

The trial version features three modes. In Story Mode, players make their way through an early stretch of the main campaign. Quest Mode lets you take on four quests, solo or in a group, with crossplay matchmaking active. There is also a Tutorial Mode that introduces the fundamentals of exploration and combat for newcomers to the franchise.

The fourth quest, called "Sephira's Sanguine Glimmer", is only unlocked after completing the previous three and serves to introduce Summons, one of the battle mechanics. Among the playable characters in the demo is Seofon, the Star Sword Sovereign, added as a new feature compared to the previous open beta.

Rewards that carry over to the full game

An important note: demo progress does not transfer to the final version. Even so, completing the activities is worthwhile, since each completed quest grants rewards that can be redeemed later in the full game. For online multiplayer on Switch 2, a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required.

What is Endless Ragnarok

Granblue Fantasy: Relink originally arrived in 2024 for PlayStation and PC, developed by Cygames from the universe of the popular mobile RPG. Endless Ragnarok is the game's major expansion, announced at the Nintendo Direct on February 5, 2026 and released on July 9, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, PS4 and Steam.

The expansion greatly broadens the original content. It adds four new playable characters (Beatrix, Eustace, Fraux and Fediel), debuts the Conflux, a solo mode with unpredictable challenges, and introduces master traits, which push characters beyond their limits. It is also the first time the franchise gets multiplayer with crossplay across platforms.

How to buy

Newcomers to the series can pick up the standard edition, physical or digital, which includes the base game and the expansion for US$59.99, while the Special Digital Edition costs US$79.99. For those who already own Granblue Fantasy: Relink, there is the Standard Upgrade Kit for US$29.99 and the Special Edition Upgrade Kit for US$54.99.

With the demo now available on Switch 2, Nintendo console owners can finally get their hands on one of the most praised action titles in the genre before deciding to buy. The game is rated "T" (Teen) by the ESRB.
