PS Plus: July 2026 free games (PS5 and PS4)

Sony has released the new batch of PlayStation Plus Essential monthly games, available to every subscriber regardless of plan. In July 2026, the trio combines a blockbuster, turn-based strategy and pixel-art action-RPG, with every title running on both PS5 and PS4.

The PS Plus Essential games for July 2026

This month's list brings together three games from very different genres, which helps please varied audiences within the same subscription:

• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (Cross-Gen Bundle) — PS5 and PS4
• For the King II — PS5 and PS4
• CrossCode — PS5 and PS4

All the games became available on July 7, 2026 and can be claimed until early August, when Sony rotates to the next month's batch. Keep in mind: once added to your library, the titles remain yours as long as your subscription stays active.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

The month's heavyweight highlight is Modern Warfare III, offered in the Cross-Gen Bundle. Beyond the campaign, the bundle brings the competitive multiplayer — which includes 16 remastered maps from the 2009 Modern Warfare 2, with updated visuals and mechanics — and an open-world PvE Zombies mode. It is one of the most robust PS Plus Essential entries in recent months and should dominate the play time of a good share of subscribers.

For the King II

A sequel to the popular For the King, this adventure roguelike blends tabletop RPG, turn-based strategy and board-game elements. It can be played solo or in co-op for up to four players, keeping the unpredictable, tactically loaded matches that defined the original. It is a feast for anyone who enjoys group challenges.

CrossCode

Closing the list, CrossCode is a retro-inspired 2D action-RPG that recalls the 16-bit classics. The game bets on fast, physics-based combat, elaborate puzzles and a story set in a fictional MMO. Critically acclaimed since its PC launch, it is one of those indies that tend to surprise anyone who gives it a chance.

What about the Extra and Deluxe plans?

The three titles above are part of the Essential plan, the base of the subscription. For the Extra and Premium/Deluxe plans, Sony has been adopting a strategy of staggering catalog additions throughout the month rather than releasing everything at once. As of this article's publication, the company had not disclosed the complete and final July list for those tiers — as soon as the titles are officially confirmed, the catalog appears directly in the PlayStation Store app.

How to claim

To secure the games, just open the PlayStation Store on your console or via the app, find each title and add it to your library — there is no need to download right away. What matters is claiming before the switch to the August list, scheduled for the start of next month.
