Rumors point to new Metroid and new Wario on Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 install base has barely started to grow and the rumor mill is already running at full speed. In recent weeks, two names have resurfaced among leakers and fan communities: a possible new Metroid and a new Wario game. Before getting excited, here is the warning we will repeat throughout this text: none of this has been announced by Nintendo.

What is being said about a new Metroid

The origin of the buzz around a new Metroid does not come from a high-profile insider, but from a document. An alleged registration called Metroid Ravenous reportedly appeared in the classification system of Brazil's Ministry of Justice and Public Security, indicating 2026 as the production year and a version for Switch 2. The listing was removed shortly after, but screenshots circulated.

It is important to stress what this document does not say. The rating brings no details about gameplay, story or release date. Moreover, rating registrations have appeared in the past with provisional titles and even with information that was never confirmed. Part of the community speculates that Ravenous would be a 2D sequel in the vein of Metroid Dread, possibly with MercurySteam in development, but that is fan interpretation, not official data.

The timing helps explain the interest. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond arrived in December 2025, ending a long wait, and it is natural that attention shifts to the series' next step. Even so, the existence of an internal project is not the same as the existence of an announced game, with a confirmed name and window.

The rumors surrounding Wario

In Wario's case, the starting point is insider comments, which demands extra caution. The leaker known as noarmsandnolegs, who has a track record of accuracy with Nintendo, claimed that a new Wario game would be in development. When asked whether it would be a Wario Land, they replied that they could not confirm a new entry in the sub-series.

Another name cited in the conversations, the leaker Nash Weedle, suggested there was something generic "related to Wario" on the way, without pinning down whether it would be WarioWare or Wario Land. There are also scattered mentions of a possible Wario Land only for 2027. Notice the pattern: many circumstantial clues, no concrete confirmation.

Why treat everything with skepticism

Rumors about Nintendo games multiply whenever there is a window of silence between Directs. Rating registrations leak, insiders drop vague phrases and the community fills the gaps with legitimate wishes. None of this is proof.

• A rating registration indicates that something was submitted, not that the game is ready or even confirmed.
• Insiders make mistakes, change their story and sometimes react to the very buzz they helped create.
• Provisional titles tend to change, and projects can be canceled or delayed.

It makes sense to expect the Switch 2 to receive new chapters of franchises as important as Metroid and Wario over its lifespan. But making sense is not the same as being confirmed. Until Nintendo takes the stage at a Direct, the most honest thing is to treat all of this for what it actually is: speculation.
