Tides of Annihilation Gets Playable Demo at Gamescom 2026

The wait for Eclipse Glow Games' next big action-RPG is nearly over. The studio confirmed that Tides of Annihilation will get its first playable demo during Gamescom 2026, in Cologne, Germany, giving European audiences the chance to finally get their hands on the PlayStation 5 exclusive.

What Tides of Annihilation Is

Tides of Annihilation is an action adventure set in a fantasy world built on Arthurian legend, taking place in a modern London devastated by an invasion. The concept blends the imagery of the Knights of the Round Table with a ruined urban setting, creating a visual contrast that has drawn attention since the very first trailers.

Eclipse Glow Games itself has cited Stellar Blade and Devil May Cry as direct inspirations, which gives a clear idea of the kind of combat the studio is chasing: fast, stylish and demanding. It is no surprise that part of the community has placed the game in the soulslike conversation, though the stated focus leans more toward frantic action and combat verticality than the punishing difficulty of From Software's genre.

Demo Confirmed at Gamescom 2026

According to the announcement, the demo will be available in Hall 6, booth B-050, inside the Koelnmesse convention center. Both press and the general public will have access to the experience on the show floor, which runs from August 26 to 30, 2026.

The build promises a deeper look at the game's world, with branching paths that lead to different exploration and combat experiences. The highlight is two playable bosses, Mordred and Geraint, names pulled straight from the Arthurian universe, letting players experience two distinct battles in a single session.

New Trailer at Opening Night Live

Ahead of the playable debut, Eclipse Glow Games will present a new trailer during Gamescom 2026: Opening Night Live, set for August 25. The video should serve as a teaser for those planning to try the demo in the following days and broaden the game's exposure to the audience watching from home.

Why the Hype Makes Sense

Tides of Annihilation has been building anticipation precisely by pairing a striking art direction with a combat system that aims to compete with the heavyweights of the action genre. The chance to play the demo at Gamescom, along with the premiere at Opening Night Live, signals that the studio is confident enough to put the project in the hands of the public on one of the industry's biggest stages.

A caveat: so far, Eclipse Glow Games has not confirmed a definitive release date nor detailed whether the game will come to platforms beyond the PS5. Any information on that front still depends on official announcements, possibly during Gamescom itself.
