Switch 2 will have a user-replaceable battery in Europe

Nintendo has confirmed that it will release updated versions of the Switch 2 and accessories with user-replaceable batteries in Europe. The change will take effect in the summer of 2026 and is in response to the European Union’s Battery Regulation, which goes into effect on February 18, 2027. As a result, the original Switch lineup will no longer be sold in Europe.
